Learning from mistakes: failing with From’s Gambit

I’m starting to look at losses against higher rated opponents in a new light; that being, as a valuable learning resource.

For each and every game against >2000 rated opposition, I download the PGN, and review the moves offline using SCID. I do this regardless of win, lose or draw.

A brief intro into From’s Gambit, where, after a promising start against a much stronger opponent (+350 rating points), a missed kinght fork triggers a total meltdown.

Being consistent is a hard thing to achieve, even in a game lasting 120 seconds. I guess it’s true, “The hardest part of chess is winning a won game. – Frank Marshall”
