The Stonewall Dutch is an ultra-solid and aggressive option, for Black, against 1.d4. It’s an often underrated System opening for White, with possible transition options to/from its cousins: the Colle (with c3) and London.
In this game, to avoid anti-Dutch lines, we see Black wait until move 5 to commit to f5. This, rather cautious approach, offers transpositional options to a Slav or Semi-Slav, depending upon White’s moves.
This game, whilst featuring two mediocre players (one of them is this website’s founder!), shows the thematic, devastating Bxh1 sacrifice!
The Stonewall Dutch is effective in Blitz, as it’s formation can be established via a number of move orders.
