Ernesto, John

Here is a demo of the ChessCreator [CC] booklet generator, tailored to create ChessRex [CR] branded PDFs.  For convenience, an example CR game is given beneath, but the generator should work with any PGN from CR. The User process is simple, requiring little more than cut/paste, and a few button clicks.

  1. Users cut/paste their PGN from CR (inc. header info) into the input panel.
  2. Users type in their own title (free text)
  3. Users select board orientation (i.e white or black pieces, on bottom or top)
  4. Users type in a short description of their game (free text, max. 700 words)
  5. Users click ‘prepare’ button
  6. Users click ‘create PDF’ button

This process generates a CR branded PDF within the iFrame, automatically opening Adobe Reader [AR] and enabling Users to save the booklet to their PC. The actual process of saving, would be dependent upon the version of AR a User has installed.

To begin with, a page similar to this could be created on CR (behind login screen, just for members). To semi-automate the process, perhaps a ‘create PDF booklet’ button could pre-populate some of the fields, or a ‘copy game to clipboard’ button? For the beta test phase on CR, we might remove step 4 – keeping process as simple as is possible.

At present, the CR website URLs are encoded as BITLYs so, if users share the PDFs, and the CR links are clicked, CC will be able to inform CR of the numbers. We can, of course, encode any CR hyperlink into the PDF – if, there was a specific registration URL, or affiliate code link, etc. (either now, or in the future)

We look forward to your thoughts, and would welcome any questions, etc.

Best Wishes, Stephen and Sid.
