GM Gawain Jones, who was top seed, lived up to the expectations finishing sole first at the 88th Hastings Masters. The English grandmaster moved up half a point from the rest of the pack in the penultimate round, and a draw in the 10th and final round was enough to win the top prize. A group of eight players finished in shared second place with 7/10. The 88th edition of the oldest running tournament in the world, the Hastings International, took place 28th December – 5th January at the English coastal town.
