A queen trap in the Petroff defence Steinitz variation (3.d4). The Petroff is also called Petrov’s defense or the Russian Game. The trap runs 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.d4 exd4 4.e5 Ne4 5.Qxd4 d5 6.Nc3 Bc5 7.Qxd5?? Bxf2+!! This leaves White the unpleasant choice of Ke1 or Kd2, after which Black responds Nc3+ winning White’s Queen!
